The first annual ArcheryWorld.com Bowfishing Tournament was a resounding success. Entrants from 5 states and 2 Canadian Providence's competed for bragging rights in waters all over New York State.

As expected bowfisherman from upstate brought back some beautiful fish for everyone to see. However, much to everyone's delight many down-stater's we pleased to see that using the combined weight of 5 fish format allowed them to be right on the heels of the northern monsters.

"Being our first year we were pleased to see that attendance was high enough to ensure the prize money for everyone. The fact that all of these contestants came out on Father's Day to support the sport says a lot about the passion that most of these guys have for Bowfishing and Archery in general" said Steven Tryon, Staff Shooter for ArcheryWorld.com. "We are already making plans for next year's event."

Look here soon for photos of the big fish, and a story by Alex McCombie called "First Time Trophies & Life Long Pursuits" chronicling the event.
