Frank Scott Passes On
One of the true legends in the archery industry became critically ill and unexpectedly passed on the evening of 11-4-00. Sadly, our very dear friend and BowCountry.com contributing editor, Frank Scott suddenly took ill and was rushed to a Gainesville, Fla. hospital. Unfortunately, Frank lapsed into a coma and was not able to recover.
For those of you who did not have the pleasure of knowing Frank, please allow us to briefly explain his monumental impact on our sport and indeed the entire archery industry.
Frank Scott was a lifelong friend and salesman for Fred Bear. Frank was responsible in the early years of their relationship for traveling the country promoting the custom made recurves that Fred Bear pioneered. Frank was "there" when the entire industry was born and stayed "in the game" right up to the end as the curator of the Fred Bear Museum. Frank was well known to a diverse group of today's manufacturers and willingly gave his time to projects spearheaded by the likes of Ted Nugent.
A few months ago the staff of BowCountry.com was treated to a 4 hour tour by Frank. We'll cherish this one-on-one time with Frank for the rest of our lives. This man was by far the most generous, giving and unique resource of information any of us has ever encountered! The "stories" and facts contained in Frank's were impressive beyond description.
Needless to say, this loss is devastating and most assuredly means our industry and sport have suffered a setback not easily described in words. If you are interested in expressing your condolences please feel free to send cards and letters to info@ArcheryWorld.com.
